System Engineer

Our fast growing client is the market leader in Network Visibility Solutions that help test, measure, validate and improve performance of physical or virtual networks for enterprises, service providers, network equipment manufactures and applications running over those networks. The focus is on Tool Optimization and Pre-Deployment Testing for complex networks. Client’s Network Visibility Solutions enable customers to cost-effectively utilize existing tools optimizing access to the network and their customers worldwide rely on our client to verify their designs, optimize their performance, and ensure protection of their networks to make their applications stronger.


The US headquarter is based in California. For the EMEA central region, based in Munich we are searching a motivated and highly sales-orientated


System Engineer (m/w)

As a Systems Engineer you will provide pre-sales support of client products/systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for the development of professional relationships with client key customers, support and management of sales representatives and distribution partners currently engaged with key customers within the region. Your duties include but are not limited to:


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the sales team in executing sales strategies through a pre-sales support
  • Contribute actively in achievement of sales goals
  • Regular customer visits and discovery across the German region
  • Preparation of test equipment prior to on-site demonstration, evaluation and POC’s
  • Delivering on-site demonstration, evaluation and POC’s, and occasionally assisting Professional Services
  • Acting as Trusted Advisor for customers, and producing Test Plans for testing Security Infrastructure.
  • Product demonstrations and evaluations to highlight the key client corresponding benefits that match their customer’s specific needs
  • Answers to sales inquiries concerning system software and applications
  • Build proof of concepts to convince the customer to go to the next steps
  • Involvement in formal product presentations to customers
  • Ability to take technical lead for customer bids
  • Answer complex RFI’s, RFQ’s etc
  • Maintain constant relationships with the product Marketing teams (Features requests, use cases and product/system applications)
  • Help to introduce new technologies to new customers
  • Any other pre sales duties as requested by the Sales Team
  • Contribute to the on-boarding process of new SE’s joining the Company

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering (Telecom, Computer Science or similar)
  • 10 + years customer facing experience
  • Must be recognised as technically competent in multiple relevant areas of technology such as; Security, L4-7 Applications, Core Routing, Data Centre technologies, SDN/NFV.
  • Specialist Security industry knowledge: Hacking techniques. Malware & Botnet, Ransomware functionality etc. Ethical Hacking an advantage.
  • Experience in testing Network Security devices such as NGFW, IDS/IPS, Anti-Malware Solutions, DDoS mitigation Solutions etc.
  • Knowledge of competitive products and technologies such as Spirent (Avalanche Next, TestCenter,), Gigamon, VSS (Netscout)
  • Experience working with some of the solutions from client Technology Partners, such as Paolo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, Checkpoint, Riverbed, Dynatrace, FireEye etc.
  • Excellent initiative and ability to align broad strategic and tactical goals
  • Great customer facing skills; builds credibility and confidence in client’s service offerings
  • Collaborative and cross functional style, works with sales, development and marketing teams to aid in growing services business.
  • Solid knowledge around virtualization (VMware, KVM and Xen)
  • Expertise in Wireshark
  • Practical trouble-shooter of complex technical problems
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to present Ixia solutions and new technologies at trade shows/conferences etc
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork spirit
  • Good listening skills
  • Good understanding of the sales process to align actions with Sales Managers
